Technical Director, Urban Health and Climate Resilience Center of Excellence (UHCRCE) UHCRCE is a public private partnership trust executed by the Health Department of SMC.
It’s a continuum of project UHCRC as a sustainability approach.
Trust is aiming at Urban health,Nutrition and climate research, training, network and advocacy.
Currently hosting two projects. 1) Urban Community Resilience Assessment with WRI Mumbai and 2) Child friendly smart city knowledge centre jointly with SMC and UNICEF.

Urban Health and Climate Resilience Center, Surat

Technical Director, Urban Health and Climate Resilience Center, Apr 2013 – Jan 2017, Surat  UHCRC is the first organisation with Urabn Health and Climate Resilience focused Research, Training, Documentation and Network. UHCRC is an initiative under Asian City Climate Change Resilience Network phase 3 of Rockefeller foundation. Its executed by Health Department of Surat Municipal Corporation and Governed by Surat Climate Change Trust. UHCRC activities are currently in Gujarat state but has National activity scope. UHCRC has worked on heat action Plan for Coastal cities, Health and Disease surveillance plan for cities, Community participation in urban health and climate resilience . Currently working on Urban Public Health vulnerability assessments.

President, Mahila Trust 

Mahila Sahkari Udyog Mandir on celebration of 60th Anniversary founded a “MAHILA” trust. The trust is formed with the goal of women empowerment by professional skill building. One of the major activity of the trust is “Arogya Kala Shala” (Health Polytechnic) with two training programs 1) Anganwadi Workers Training Program 2) Urban health training (Link workers training ) and the recent one is the “UMMID”.

Founder Secretary, Urban Health Society of India, 2010 – Present (7 yrs), Surat, Gujarat          Urban health Society of India is an association of multi-disciplinary , inter-disciplinary, multi-sectoral professionals working in / interested in the field of Urban health. It is a registered society with a major activity aimed at Urban health research promotion, dissemination of Research and Advocacy to contribute towards building up and strengthening of Urban health system. It has a provision of Individual Life membership and company membership. As on now there are 150 registered life members. 1st national conference of Urban Health Society of India was held at Surat on 1st-2nd December and was attended by 175 participants from different parts of the country and representing public health, urban planning, urban development and NGOs.National Institute For Woman and Child Development

Vice President, National Institute For Woman and Child Development

National institute for Woman and Child Development is a trust with a Goal of Holistic development of women and children. Trust activities include organisation of diagnostic and counselling health camps, community education programs, publication of educative books etc. NIWCD organizes free Pediatric Heart camps at Surat every year for children of Gujarat and every year 250-300 children are provided these services. November 2012 was 12th camp.

Mahila Sahkari Udyog Mandir is a registered women’s co-operative society formed in 1948 with a goal of women empowerment through financial self sufficiency. It has 250 share holders and 40 employees including management, skilled and non skilled women and all employees are shareholders of our organisation. Activities include consumer store, ICDS supplementary nutrition production unit, Office support unit, Supply of goods to Government residential institutions. Mahila Sahkari Udyog Mandir have two three storied buildings in the heart of the city including one historical building.

”I was a medical student of the first batch of medical college and first post graduate of my department of PSM as well as South Gujarat University. I served as a teacher of PSM/ Community Medicine Department for almost 40 years in same college. It was a challenging task to develop a department, create image of the department as well as subject and create felt need of the expertise of Community Medicine, I feel i was reasonably successful. It was an unique opportunity to develop public health expertise in the field of Community Nutrition, Urban health, Malaria, Leptospirosis, Sickle cell Anemia, Health interventions of Rescue relief and rehabilitation during Flood, Industrial and endemic Flurosis along with the regular teaching, training and research activities. Also it was an opportunity to rebuild State chapter of IAPSM and be a president of state chapter as well as National body of IAPSM.”
